Obituary for Sarah Stubbings
Sarah Laird Stubbings passed away on June 24, 2017. She was born in Grangemouth, Scotland in 1919 and came to the United States as a young girl. A good part of her life was spent on Long Island, NY, where here husband, Gordon, worked at the AEC at Brookhaven National Laboratory. They moved to New Bern, NC in the early seventies.
Sarah was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and friend. She will be remembered with great love and affection by her family and friends.
Sarah is predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Gordon E. Stubbings and her brother, Duncan Laird. Surviving family includes, daughters; Heather (Joseph) Gilkey of Gainsville, FL, Bonnie G. Stubbings of Midland, NC, son G. Laird (Dale) Stubbings of New Bern, NC, nephew Barry (Carol) Meehan of Wappingers Falls, NY, niece Sandy (Jim) Perkins of Lebanon, IL, six grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, and four step great-great grandchildren.
Sarah was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church. She loved her family, church, gardening, and being the family photographer.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 21, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Centenary United Methodist Church chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given, in memory of Sarah Stubbings, to the cause of your choice.
